↑ Return to Immunizations

Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox, varicella. If you ever had chickenpox, the virus is still inactive in your body and can emerge later in life as shingles. Shingles begins as an itching and burning sensation and can cause a painful, burning rash that lasts 2 – 4 weeks.  As the rash heals, some people still experience pain for months or years. Age increases the risk for shingles. For adults age 60 and older, Zostavax can lower the risk of Shingles.

A prescription is required for this immunization. It is covered by most insurance plans. Our pharmacists provide immunizations daily between 12:00PM – 4:00PM, or by appointment.
